DC Trip
VisionQuest just came back from our Servant Leadership trip in D.C. We focused on how to show true leadership through serving others. We spent most of the week serving at Anacostia High School in inner city DC near what used to be known as "murder row". It was an awesome experience for everyone and we even got to make a rap. And yes, we were as bad as you might think.

Our group in front of the Lincoln Monument. A little blurry, but we were using a camera phone.

We definitely helped bring some more chaos to the hallways of Anacostia. I even at one point almost sparked a minor riot by accident.

Camilla and Renee make friends

Josh lost a bet and had to walk around w/ an old man hairline for a few days.

Chris Nich. lays down some rhymes.

The recording studio inside the House

Hanging out w/ friends in the House. The House is a really cool after school program located on what used to be Murder Row in DC. The House helps teach local kids skills they need for life and helps them get away from destructive lifestyle choices. They even have a really cool recording studio where kids can lay down professional sounding tracks.

Vince and Joe actually got to teach a geometry class when the teacher didn't show. They were doing a great job until the students found out that Joe was their age!

I try to pretend like I know what I'm doing while trying to help kids figure out their English assignment.

One of our favorite people was named "Tiny" We got the chance to pray for her at the end of the week. It was a really moving experience.
Next year we will be heading to Mississippi to serve the poor and those still recovering from the hurricane. Maybe you can join us!
